SIT CALM....
One day Dobbins ( Rashad ) hit me up and asked me to make a beat out of one of the oddest things to sample...a piece of television. I took the challenge, and the first track, Bamas Just Don't Understand, turned out to be dope AF! I said yo, what if we just turned this into an EP that's strictly made from TV and Movies we grew up with. We came up in the 80's and 90's so all of the material is from a time before the internet and social media. Most of the music should bring back memories for those of y'all young enough to remember these shows and films!
ENTER THE CORONA VIRUS!!!!!
So we started this project before the outbreak of the COVID-19 virus but felt with the unexpected lockdown of cities, states, and countries across the world that this is the most appropriate moment to send this out to the globe. Our prayers are with the people. Our love goes out to all those lost thru the pandemic. We hope this music carries you thru this and beyond. The only thing we can do is stay inside so.....sit calm.
Sincerely,
Timothy John Hicks
( Founder of The Dirty Church / Let The Dirt Say Amen )
PS - The first song, Bamas Just Don't Understand was created a while back and in no way is a copy or diss of the Joyner Lucas song " Will "
Our tune is specifically focused on the tv show, The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air. Big salute to Joyner Lucas, Will Smith, and the DMV's own Crank Lucas!
